March 2011 - Who is Pittarak? Who are Eric and Sarah McNair-Landry?

In 2007, Eric and Sarah McNair-Landry, brother and sister, were inspired by their passion for the outdoors and adventure to form the expedition team they named Pittarak to achieve one objective: Complete a 2,300 km kite-ski expedition, the crossing of the Greenland ice cap from South to North. Since this expedition, Eric and Sarah have accomplished many other expedition projects. Their goal is to motivate youth to be active and to love the outdoors through their expeditions. Since, 2007, they have been loyal Camino Amigos.

Camino and Pittarak

Camino partnered with Eric and Sarah for their very first Pittarak expedition in Greenland (2007), their Pittarak Gobi expedition in Mongolia (2009) and their Vada expedition in Mongolia and Russia (2010).

Why we love this partnership?

Yes, Eric and Sarah are loyal fans of Camino products. But, the philosophy behind their expeditions is very similar to the Camino philosophy.

  1. TO LEAD. Eric and Sarah, or Team Pittarak, strive to be leaders in all they do to inspire change: Eric is currently the youngest to have skied unsupported to the South Pole and Sarah is the youngest to have traveled to both the North and the South Pole.
  2. TO EDUCATE. Team Pittarak has a passion for a cause, a love for outdoors and physical activity, and shares it and its importance with youth across the world through visiting different villages during their expeditions.
  3. TO SUSTAIN THE ENVIRONMENT. Team Pittarak cares about the environment and plays an active role in speaking about it through film projects. They use and promote reusable energy through their expeditions and take care of being green in all they do.
